♫ Olivia - A Little Pain ♫so i finally watched NANA (anime) and i have to say - DAMN DEPRESSING. despite the angst and frustration, the plot and characters motivated me to watch it until the end. and as expected, the ending left me empty, hollow and mellow. then i went to take a peek at the manga and that just crushed me even more lol sigh. relationships are getting more complicated and feelings are slowly fading =_= sigh. i really can't forsee a happy ending at all.

*「眠れずにいた」- I have no idea what 眠れずにいた means. it's not in my dictionary, jim breen says it's an inflected verb of 眠る and babel fish says "without sleeping" but that's excluding the いた part haha. when i typed in the full thing, it just didn't make sense altogether. so in the end i just stuck with without sleeping, but i have no idea how to express without sleeping with いた。so yeah ... (T_T)
* i have absolutely no idea why they are talking about the cuffs of jeans becoming wet LOL. the verse started off so normal and then all of a sudden it has this weird analogy for jean cuffs -_- but yes, that weird translation is due to the fault of the original lyrics! haha it's either that, or i'm just not creative enough to rephrase it into something more sensible XD
so that's it haha, it doesn't really make sense, but i tried! D: it was fun to do nonetheless XD ok i think i'm going to try to translate nino's solo 「虹」 now XD it looks longer T_T and the words don't seem to be familiar to me haha so this might take a while T_T

* i translated "記憶をたどって" as a "tracing memory" though, i'm not sure whether it's related to the feelings she felt when she sneaked away and was caught with (him), or whether she was referring to the feelings that she experienced while watching the fireworks that summer. but either way, what i am sure of is that it has something to do with that summer...or at least i think it does o_o hahah gomen ne (^^;)
** i wasn't exactly sure what "小さくても小さくても" was referring to either. when i first read through it, i immediately thought it had to do with time - that is, even though it will be for a short period of time, she still wanted to be by his side. then i started thinking, maybe it has to do with her role in the relationship, i.e. she wants to be by his side even if she is of small value to him. so i really don't know hahaha, they both could be wrong for all i know! |
